Matthew Carluccio, an award-winning Executive Producer at NBC, has devoted close to thirty years to broadcast news production and editorial leadership. His career has been defined by his role in shaping respected programs, including Dateline NBC, TODAY, Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist, and NBC News Specials. Through steady guidance and consistent focus on accuracy, he has played a pivotal role in producing content that has reached a broad audience and earned recognition across the industry. Matthew is known for his ability to manage fast-paced productions while making decisions under pressure that require accuracy and sound judgment. His leadership has been reflected in the numerous awards he and his teams have earned, including multiple Emmy Awards and Edward R. Murrow Awards, recognizing excellence in breaking news, writing, and overall journalism. Carluccio grew up in Toms River, NJ, where his curiosity about the world, combined with the influence of his parents’ work in law and psychology, inspired him to pursue a career in journalism. After boarding school in Pennsylvania, he studied Political Science and Psychology at Clark University in Massachusetts. These studies provided him with insight into individual behavior and institutional systems, while also shaping his understanding of how stories are constructed for audiences. After graduating in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, he moved to New York City to begin his career. His first role was as an Assistant to the Executive Producer at King World TV, where he observed the daily operations of television production. Matthew then joined NBC as an Associate Producer for Dateline NBC, gaining experience in investigative reporting, long-format stories, and general assignments. During this time, he developed his skills in reporting, writing, and editing, while also traveling extensively for field assignments, including coverage of major U.S. criminal cases and the Middle East. In 2005, he transitioned to TODAY, where he produced field broadcasts from locations around the world, including Cuba, Belize, the Vatican, and Antarctica, making the first live network news report from the South Pole. He also led Olympic coverage from 2006 in Torino through Beijing in 2022. His leadership roles grew as he became Supervising Producer in 2008, Senior Producer in 2011, and Executive Producer of the weekend editions of TODAY in 2014. In 2016, Carluccio helped launch Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist, which became a successful addition to the TODAY brand. Since 2020, he has overseen NBC News Specials, producing coverage of elections, inaugurations, and significant international events. Beyond his professional achievements, he has been married for 18 years and is the father of three boys. He lives with his family and two dogs in Philadelphia, while also finding time for reading, listening to podcasts, coaching sports, skiing, surfing, and cooking Italian meals, as a fan of the NY Yankees. Matthew Carluccio continues to lead with dedication and experience, leaving a lasting mark on broadcast journalism.
