Receiver Mark Adams CRG
Mark Adams is the founder and President of California Receivership Group (CRG), a leading firm specializing in property receivership for over 25 years. Under his leadership, CRG has managed the rehabilitation of 415 properties across California, Tennessee, and Texas, overseeing a total of $62.5 million in rehab loans that have been fully repaid. This work has revitalized properties and generated around 1,500 jobs, helping to strengthen local economies and improve the quality of life in the neighborhoods CRG serves. Adams' expertise lies in receivership, a legal remedy allowing courts to control unsafe or abandoned properties and manage their rehabilitation. CRG’s work spans various property types, from residential homes to commercial buildings. Over the years, he has handled properties affected by hoarding, illegal cannabis grow operations, fire damage, hazardous materials, and more. Through receivership, he and his team can bring neglected or dangerous properties back to life, providing long-term solutions where other methods have failed. In addition to his work in California, Adams expanded CRG’s reach by founding subsidiaries in Texas and Tennessee. He has secured two appointments in Dallas through Texas Receivership Group (TxRG), while Tennessee Receivership Group (TRG) recently completed its 36th property in Memphis. This expansion demonstrates his success and desire to bring his expertise to other parts of the country. By extending CRG’s services to more states, he is helping to address the challenges posed by abandoned properties and bringing positive change to additional communities. Receiver Mark Adams’ influence extends beyond his direct work with CRG. He co-founded the Vacant Property Receivership Consortium (VPRC), a nonprofit organization that advocates using receivership as a solution for vacant and distressed properties. Through VPRC, he has helped shape national policy and raised awareness of the importance of receivership in property revitalization. He has spoken at numerous industry events, including the Receivership Roundtable and the Center for Community Progress National Land Bank Network Summit, where he has shared his knowledge and insights with professionals nationwide. One of Adams' key contributions to receivership was his article in Receivership News following the 2020 Los Angeles wildfires. In the article, he explained how receivership could help stabilize and rehabilitate fire-damaged properties, restoring them quickly and safely. His expertise in post-disaster recovery has shown how receivership can be an essential tool in rebuilding communities after significant events. Adams’ journey in receivership began in 1999 when he became the first court-appointed receiver under California’s Health and Safety Code. His first assignment was to address hazardous conditions at a 66-unit apartment complex, a case that marked the beginning of his long and successful career in the receivership field. Since then, he has worked on numerous properties, always focusing on returning them to safe, livable conditions. Throughout his career, Adams has earned several awards for his work, including the Distinguished Entrepreneurial Alumnus Award from Loyola Marymount University. His reputation as a leader in the receivership industry and his commitment to improving communities have made him one of the most respected figures in his field. Mark Adams continues to be a driving force in the receivership industry. His leadership at CRG, advocacy work, and philanthropic efforts have impacted communities nationwide. As he moves forward, his expertise and dedication will undoubtedly continue to shape the future of property revitalization.
